What is the Goddess Movement?
The barre method found ME, due to its expressive, expansive, rhythmic nature which spoke to my soul.
And over the years of personal training and teaching barre over multiple
studios and on a global online platform, I have refined my own unique
barre method to create what is an incredibly transformative total body
workout that builds incredible strength & connects us to our divine
feminine power.
What started out as a project to launch a
fitness platform became a journey of discovery that would change my life
as both a fitness trainer, and as a woman.
The truth is, as
women we hold more power than we could have ever imagined, and after
diving deep into this knowledge, I’ve created a revolutionary movement
method which truly honours this wholeheartedly and allows us to tap into
that.
Learning about women’s hormone cycles and cyclical nature has changed my entire outlook on my approach to fitness and has opened my eyes to the untapped potential and magic within us
The fitness industry has come a long way in the last 10 years but it is
still very much a masculine space which is based on the hormone cycle of
men.
A woman has a 28 day average hormone cycle (like the
moon) unlike a man’s 24 hour hormone cycle (like the sun) and within that
monthly cycle are four phases.
Each phase replicates the 4
seasons with a women’s energy, mood and confidence peaking during
ovulation phase (her inner summer) and her urge to retreat, rest and go
inward during her menstrual phase (her inner winter).
The follicular phase
(inner Spring) is a time for action, planning and play and Luteal phase
(inner Autumn) is a time for slowing down and reflecting.
NONE
of this is taken into consideration in our modern world which tells us to
go go go and keep pushing in order to be successful.
And so
begins my mission to flip the script and create space for women to workout
in a way that truly honours their bodies. Introducing The Goddess Movement
method.
TGM is here for every phase of your month (or moon if you don’t have a menstrual cycle).
It encourages you to go slow when you need to go slow and to challenge
yourself when your body craves more. It allows you to stay consistent
while also acknowledging the ebbs and flow of your beautiful body.
It
is deeply transformative, soul awakening and will build your strongest
most resilient body while also bringing you home to your feminine magic,
pulse by pulse.
TGM is a safe space for you grow, feel nurtured and
discover your strength in order to reconnect with the goddess within who
is calling you home.
My love for movement began when i was a little girl who just loved to dance. It set my soul on fire and it was the most natural, joyful thing in the world.
I was a shy little girl but something about music and movement set me
alight. So I followed that love and it led me to want to become a
professional dancer.
But gradually, the love and passion I had
for dance was overshadowed by the pressure to look a certain way. And so
began my toxic relationship with using exercise as punishment for not
being ‘enough’ and totally disconnecting to my body out of shame.
After years of suffering severe body dysmorphia and anxiety, I
walked into my first barre class when I was training as a dancer in New
York City.
Within the first few minutes of the warm up, I was
humbled. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I was working
muscles I didn’t know existed and the burn was so intense that I knew in
that moment that it had to be life changing…
There was
something very different about this workout, I realised that not once during the class had I worried about my
appearance, thought about burning calories or ‘toning’ anything. I had been completely IN the moment, move after move, just like when I danced.
There was something about taking up space with my body
to the beat of the music, in complete unison with the other women in the
class that felt tribal and transcendent.
I felt myself standing taller. It took me out of my physical body and
somewhere greater. It reminded me that I was MORE than my body. It
awakened something that I forgot was there.
After doing barre
consistently, my body completely transformed to it’s strongest, most
defined version but I’d not once even thought about that. It was a
by-product of moving with love.
This powerful girl who loved
movement was coming back to life and remembering who she was… and the
class came as the greatest epiphany.
Movement should ALWAYS be
a celebration.
Never a chore, never an obligation.
I fell in love with
movement as a child because it was a JOY to move. So why on Earth did it ever become anything other than that?
I
realised that I’d found my purpose and so began my mission to share this
realisation in order to empower women everywhere.
It’s time to
awaken your inner goddess,
it’s time to move, with love, and for YOU.
